Sewing Camp, Intro Class, Week 2

5:45 PM
This week, I had two classes, 10am-12pm and 12:30pm-2:30pm, with 2 girls in each class.

It was so fun to have 4 students that I had never met before. It was fun to get to know them through the week, and see how their personalities shined as they became confident in their sewing skills.

These four were able to ALMOST finish sewing their 8 strips together to make their pillows, on the first day, They finished their pillows on day 2, and were glowing with pride! They then got to pick out their fabrics for the zipper pouches- and we started only by ironing on the interfacing day 2.

Day 3: They learned how to sew a zipper pouch. Just like with the first class, they thought the concept was abstract, but not difficult. They never have to fear zippers!!!

Day 4: We started our tote bags, and they took us the entire 2 hours. We even ran over 15-20 minutes in each class, so we didn't have time for scrunchies. I told the girls that I would send the headband pattern to their mothers incase the wanted to give it a try at home.

I can not believe how fast this week went. By the 4th day, I felt like I had formed friendships with these 4 girls, and it seems strange that our class is over for now. 1 of the girls signed up to do the pattern class next week, and then the parent's of the other three have also expressed interest in setting up a time to also do level 2 camp!! So, at least we all knew this wasn't goodbye forever.
